One would expect that a name like 'RipCord' has a meaning behind it, and you'd be right. This 5-piece Cape Town-based acoustic rock band has an unusual habit. From time to time they throw themselves out of perfectly functioning aircraft with reckless abandon!

With a Chilli Peppers bass influence and dark and moody piano and guitar layers, it would seem impossible for the styles to blend, but somehow they do. With subtle jazz undercurrents and dark and moody Evanescene-style vocals the band puts forward a dynamic performance and songs which lyrically deliver a social commentary.

With the impending launch of their debut EP, "Matter of Time", things certainly seem to be 'falling into place' for the band. "We seek to make music that is accessible to everyone, but also reaches people on an individual and unique level", says Melissa (vocals). "Whether it reaches 2 million people or just 1 person, it wouldn't make a difference. We just hope each person takes something unique away from the experience."
